Using After Effects to Track Motion…Building a Case Study

Tracking Image:
The purpose of this project was to create a medical/science ad involving the tracking tools in After Effects. The Subject and idea were provided. https://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/motion-tracking.html

Elements:
The elements for this movie were provided but required some conceptualization for execution. The process I chose was to take stills from the movie of the microscope and lab worker and create several layouts in Adobe illustrator.

Er Molecule Motion Tracking After Effects Case Study
This initial layout described the motion intent and provided some basic composition. The rotation of the image required new compositions to account for the motion. The molecule needed to be moved.
Several other versions were made for consideration. The shapes that frame the image were desired. They would animate to highlight the text. The blue of the gloves was used to provide consistency and make the text legible.


Several elements were assembled to create the molecule image. A lens, a movie of a lens reflection, and the molecule movie itself. The notion is that we are the person looking through the microscope and we can see the lens refractions.
