THE CHALLENGE:
Within the confines of the product, its appearance, and history, several ideas to display and give a feel and narrative to the product lead me to create a “Steampunk” motif. In this way, I hoped to give the product a more adventurous and fun appearance. By using a cinemagraph technique tps://tinyurl.com/mt8kbvj4 I endeavoured to creat a more eye-cating add through motion. Motion graphics heps to “pull the eye” away from static imagry.
Steampunk Fun!
The hat itself lent very well to turn-of-the-century fashion and Jules Verne-style adventurism! Collecting elements to portray the style of an explorer and swashbuckler was a fun task. The recent interest in steampunk has been growing due to video games and movies pushing the boundaries of the multiverse idiom.
According to Wikipedia: “Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the Victorian era or the American “Wild West”, where steam power remains in mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk
